VDO Fleet is the brand by AUMOVIO Germany GmbH for digital tachograph and fleet management solutions. VDO has been developing and manufacturing tachographs and related accessories for over 100 years. Since the introduction of the digital tachograph in 2006, the product range has also included digital archiving, analsis and fleet management software, as well as other download and telematics solutions.

Today, VDO Fleet combines the second version of the smart tachograph (DTCO 4.1a and higher) with its own telematics hardware and a cloud-based fleet management platform to create a comprehensive ecosystem for connected and automated fleet processes. The simple connection of vehicles to the VDO Fleet backend automates compliance obligations, creates transparency and increases efficiency in everyday fleet operations – for digital tachograph and fleet management from a single source.

VDO Fleet is part of AUMOVIO's Autonomous Commercial Mobility (ACM) business area, within which the Commercial and Special Vehicles (CSV) business unit focuses on solutions for commercial and special-purpose vehicles.

Since its spin-off in September 2025, AUMOVIO has continued the business of the former Continental Automotive business area as an independent company. VDO Fleet brings a long history to the AUMOVIO world: the brand's roots date back to 1929, when the companies Vereinigte DEUTA (Deutsche Tachometer-Werke GmbH) and OTA Apparate GmbH (Offenbacher Tachometer-Werke) merged to form the joint brand VDO. For over 100 years, the brand has been developing and producing tachographs and other solutions for efficient fleet management – accompanying the development of commercial road transport from its mechanical beginnings to intelligent, networked tachographs. This tradition shapes VDO Fleet's self-image as a reliable partner to the transport and logistics industry and is now incorporated into the VDO Ecosystem for digital tachograph and fleet management.

What we do

VDO Fleet develops and operates an integrated digital ecosystem for tachograph and fleet management – from the hardware in the vehicle to analysis in the cloud. At the heart of this ecosystem are the second-generation smart tachograph (DTCO 4.1a and higher), telematics hardware such as the VDO Link or Remote DL 4G, as well as the VDO Fleet platform and the VDO Fleet app.

VDO Fleet supports fleet operators in all stages of tachograph data management – from legally compliant archiving and analysis of tachograph data to deadline management and meaningful reports for scheduling and administration.

Remote download solutions enable fleet operators to transfer driver and mass storage data from all European countries on a scheduled basis – without manual intervention on site at the vehicle. This reduces effort, sources of error, and downtime.

Map and real-time views give fleet managers a quick overview of the position, route, driving and rest times as well as availability of  vehicles. This makes route planning easier, helps reduce downtime, and increases the responsiveness to unforeseen events.

Intuitive interfaces and guided workflows – on the tachograph, on the web, and via app – make handling tachograph and fleet data easier and more secure. Drivers are guided step by step through key tasks.

The VDO Fleet Ecosystem around the tachograph has a modular design. Fleet operators can combine exactly the components that suit the size, structure and application profile of their fleet – from the DLK Smart Download Key and the plug & play telematics VDO Link to a permanently installed solution. Open interfaces enable integration into logistics and ERP systems as well as connection to third-party services.

This makes VDO Fleet a platform that ensures compliance, efficiency and transparency today and enables new data-driven applications for digital fleet management tomorrow.
